Cherry Heaven. Our cherry frangipane tarts consist of a buttery pastry base, filled with an almond frangipane and a sweet red cherry filling. Baked till they are golden brown our cherry tarts are such a tasty treat.
Interestingly, the history of the sweet almond flavoured frangipane can be traced back to the 16th century when an Italian nobleman, Marquis Muzio Frangipani, introduced almond perfume - scented gloves. The delicacy known as frangipane was then created when the perfume was added to an almond cream dessert… how fascinating!
Here at Grant’s Bakery we feel that the classic combination of cherry and almonds is irresistible but why not try it for yourself, our cherry frangipane tarts are available for collection and local delivery.
